• You Can Now Use Your Mac's Camera to Redeem Gift Cards in iTunes 11

Just earlier today, Apple launched iTunes 11 for Windows and Mac OS X, which included a completely revamped interface, redesigned iTunes Store, new icon, and many new features.

One of the interesting new features that have been discovered in iTunes 11 is that Mac users can actually use their iSight cameras to redeem iTunes gift card codes. This makes it much quicker and easier for the user, as they no longer have to manually type in the randomized iTunes gift card code.

The feature works similarly to QR code, Barcode, and business card scanner apps in the App Store, which have been available in the App Store for ages. Just point the card in the direction of the camera, and the software will do the rest. After iTunes reads your gift card, your iTunes account will be credited with the value of the iTunes gift card you are redeeming.

To use the feature, Mac users can head over to the redeem section in iTunes 11 and you’ll be greeted with the ability to click a “Use Camera” button. You can also opt to input the code the manual way if you wish to.

Is it really that hard for people to manually input the code themselves?

Interesting feature. When is it coming to iOS then?

I would like to see this as well. Maybe it could be introduced in iOS 6.1.
