Shazam, the popular music tagging service, has updated both its free Shazam and paid ($6.99) Shazam Encore iOS applications today, bringing both applications to version 5.5.0 with a new application icon, new interface, and some awesome new features.
The new application icon gives the app a tasteful look on the home screen, and the new interface when tagging music looks great and fun. It’s even cooler when you begin tagging music, as the application shows you all kinds of sounds in the background on top of just the music you’re trying to tag:

Also noticeable, the speed at which Shazam now tags your music has been improved, and takes as little as a second to find what you’re listening to. The application can even store your tags while offline (no Internet connection) so that the application can check for the song when you connect to the Internet later on. This will be useful for iPod touch and iPad users that may be abroad and can’t get access to the Internet, but also for iPhones that just can’t seem to get service when you need it.
The update also gives you a search feature in your tags screen, so you don’t have to scroll through each of your individual tags to find a specific song you tagged. Tags can now also be shared on Google+, and VoiceOver users will now be able to tap anywhere on the screen with two fingers to start tagging music.
Additional improvements include the ability to pull to refresh in Shazam friends, and Facebook tag sharing now uses the iOS-integrated Facebook share sheet.
Existing users will find the update from the Updates tab in the App Store. New users can download Shazam for free from this link, or Shazam Encore for $6.99 from this link.
