hi, how do I remove them? I'm on unlocked virgin 1.1.1.
    On 1.0.2 I simply replaced the ABPhoneFormats.plist.

    Many thanks Guys.

i did ask this before, but figure out a solution later.
    so here's it.
settings -> general -> international -> region format
    choose 'Australia'

there you go, no need for uploading any files.

Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app, the M68AP.plist file is in there, open that up with BBEdit or UltraEdit and change the <false/> under <key>international</key> to <true/>
Then you can change the locale in General Settings

So you can use my method above or if you just wish to manually hack it:
In firmware v1.1.1 the address book formats file is now located in /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFormats/UIPhoneFormats.plist
