    I am part of a team working on a project that will allow us to load a custom lite iPhone os. The custom os at this point called LiteOS is a modified apple firmware with certain extras like unneeded language packs removed. As of right now there is a beta working on 2nd gen. ipod touch (non-mc) devices and we are able to inject a custom loader into an apple ipsw image!

    If anyone wants more info pm me or if it's ok with the mods here i'll post a link to where the work is being documented.
    this would be amazing if you guys made a liteOS for the iphone

    WOW...I messed up and am crossing my fingers there's a fix...
    A while back I deleted the daemons but i think one of them messed up with my maps app.
    I had saved the original daemons so i figured i would just SSH them back in. I did that but when I rebooted...it froze at the Apple boot screen....I have my stuff backed up but now I cannot find a way to restore it without upgrading to 3.1.3!!!!
    I tried running Blackra1n again to no avail...it freezes at the screen with geo's face on it...

    Wow, sounds like you didn't change the folder permissions before you rebooted. I did the same thing (I think) the other day. I believe restore is your only option. What device are you running. (mobile view doesn't show device)

    For future reference, How do i change the permissions and what do i set them to?

    I made a package that disables LaunchDaemons.

    Repo = http://repo.insanelyiph0ne.com

    Package name: Remove LaunchDaemons

    All daemons are backed up and restored when the package is uninstalled!

    Not sure if these were already mentioned since I didn't scan through this entire thread but here are other methods for removing the Language Packs and (supposedly) speeding up Cydia:

    Here are some other ways to increase RAM:

    For RAM increase on your iPhone, (this thread) READ THIS

    For RAM increase in Cydia, do this (taken from another thread):

    Create a backup copy of /Applications/Cydia.app/package.js and copy it to your PC/Mac using a file transfer method (SCP for example).

    Open it up, find the line that reads (it's on line number 208 of the file):
    var depiction = package.depiction;

    Change it to:
    var depiction = null;

    Save package.js and upload it to your iPhone in /Applications/Cydia.app/, over-writing the old one.

    Respring and ur done

    Can I just use ifile to go in and delete the selected daemons? I'm not to worried about it if I have to restore.
