I think I'm doing everything right but Perfect Browser keeps closing and when I restart it I see the message "get netflix for iPad."

The only find I can possibly see that I'm doing wrong is the the permission folder is 0755 instead of 755. Would that make a difference? I'm using Winscp on pc to change the permissions.

    *edit*
I got it changed to 755 and it works great now, thanks!

cool, but can you get a free trial without entering credit card info?
or do they plan to automatically bill you when your trial is up, rather than just ending your trial?

Works great BTW, there is a new UA faker in cydia that works with iOS4 and safari... the sbsettings one doesn't work, but this one lets you set the UA string in the settings app!

    Free:

    1. Copy Netflix.app for iPad into /Applications
    2. chmod -R 755 /Applications/Netflix.app
    3. Install User Agent Faker (not the SBSettings one, the new one)
    4. Set user agent to:

    Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B334b Safari/531.21.10

    5. Respring
    6. Go to Netflix.com and play movies instantly on your iPhone.

When I sync to iTunes, will it delete the Netflix app from my iPhone since it is an iPad app? Or will it be tricked into thinking it is an iPhone app?

No, it'll be fine. If you're worried about it you can always edit the UIDeviceFamily key in the info.plist and set it to 0 though

After a quick google search I found this article which had step by step instructions for using Netflix on a 3g[s] but it does not work on the now jailbroke iPhone4 *because of the UserAgent strings I assume*

So after some quick thinking, I found a way to do it...here is my copy/paste/change method of doing so. Thanks to the original writer at TMCNet....here we go...

    Things you will need:
    Jailbroke iPhone4
Open SSH or access to / via USB cable
Netflix for iPad (Free in Appstore)
    Perfect Browser ($0.99 in Appstore
    Paid Netflix account

    Starting with the copy/paste/edit...

    1) Open iTunes on your PC / Mac.

    2) Download Netflix for iPad from iTunes

    3) In iTunes, right-click the Netflix for iPad application & click 'Show in Windows Explorer' or 'Show in Finder'

    4) Rename Netflix 1.0.4.ipa to Netflix 1.0.4.zip.

    5) Extract the entire ZIP file somewhere.

    6) Go into the extracted folder, then the Payload folder. There you'll see the Netflix.app folder containing the entire app.

    7) Copy Netflix.app folder to your iPhone using SSH. After you SSH into your phone (I use Cyberduck on Mac), navigate to:
/private/var/stash/Applications/, which is where the Netflix.app goes.

    8) Change permissions on the Netflix.app folder to 755 using this command: (On mac using Cyberduck click on 'Go - Open in Terminal App' then login
    chmod -R 755 Netflix.app

Note: If you use the Terminal app on the iPhone to change permissions, make sure to run "su root" or else you will get this error: "Terminal problem. (operation not permitted)"

    9) Respring (or restart) your phone.

    10) In the App Store buy Perfect Browser for $1.99. When it is installed open it and click the wrenches for settings then click on Desktop Rendering then choose Safari iPad and click the Green Check Mark to accept the changes.

    11) Now in Perfect Browser, browse to Netflix: Rent as many movies as you want for only $8.99 a month! Free Trial, login, and find a movie to watch. You will then see Perfect browser close and the the Quicktime player will open and VOILA! Movies to go

    Thanks to google and tmcnet!
Anyone know the app that shows the memory on top next to the time in the status bar? Ive been trying to figure that out forever.

    It's an option in SBSettings.

Also, I got this worked out nicely with a webclip pointing to Netflix Stream page and I put a Netflix icon for it and hid the real Netflix app (the one that doesn't work), when i find a flick I want to watch, it still switches from Safari to Netflix app perfectly fine and plays beautifully. Good workaround. (BTW, using the User Agent Faker)

    So thanks to everyone here!

Next question being: Anyone had success with the ABC app?

    Three issues:
    1. When unzipping the Netflix.app it has 2 CodeResources files? I saved the second as CodeResources(2).
    2. My directory isn't just "Applications" it is "Applications.Nyh923"
    3. I click a movie in Perfect Browser and it goes to Netflix, but is 'Preparing" with the little swirling thing for last 10 minutes.

I SSH'd into the phone and replaced the Icon.png for the Browser app with a Netflix one that I found. Google "Netflix app png" and you'll find a good one.
I got it all working but would like to use the little trick you did. I have found the icon for netflix, but i cant seem to find the location of all the files for perfect browser...can ya give me a hint

It is working great, with one issue. Using perfect browser, if I stop the movie by hitting the "Done" button in the top left it closes just fine and then opens safari and goes to the Netflix login screen. Any thoughts on how to fix it would be great

What did you do? I'm getting the same problem. Everything is installed, permissions are at 755, but in Perfect Browser it just ends up opening the appstore saying i need to get it for the iPad.

I did the following when setting permissions via WinSCP (see screenshot).

Check off "Set group, owner and permissions recursively."

After I did that all was good and gravy.
