    Putting it after the file systems are mounted won't work either.

    Try running sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency in a SSH Terminal, It will say its only read not write, Its not linked with anything to write to.

    I thought I mentioned that in a previous post

    Uhh..question.. How come my fstab file doesnt have the changable scripts? It only shows the dev disks things?

    i hadnt read it
    but i followed your advice, and i got this

    xxxxx:~ root# sysctl -w hw.cpufrequency=600000000
    sysctl: oid 'hw.cpufrequency' is read only
    xxxxx:~ root#

    i tried this on the iphone 4 and it ****** my phone up bad. Had to restore and now my mms will not work and my edge data plan doesn't work either.

    You had to do it wrong then cuz I just did this to my 3Gs ans my dads IP4 and they work like there on Speed =}

    You will have to do a clean restore. What ever mistake you made while doing this stayed with your back up file. So after restore set up as "new phone".



    I tried this on my 3G and damn it does kind of feel more responsive ... haven't tried it on my i4 tho, that thing is fast as is

    What speed did you set yours too? I set it to 850 and it made me restore.

    I set my 3Gs to 750 750 550 and my dads IP4 to 900 900 700

    So far I've tested my iPhone 3GS, My dad's 4 and my mom's 3G.

    I've been playing it safe and have noticed an increase on all three phones at these speeds.

    3G -- 600/600/50
    3GS -- 750/750/50
    4 -- 900/900/50

    600/600/50 on 3G 3.1.2 was more responsive and really did fell a lot faster but I had to removed the mod because it caused a dramatic drop in battery life. I'll take longer battery life over speed any day.

    ok so i was wondering since u guys found out how to overclock now is any way of making it a cydia tweak so it auto changes the files for you and reboots your phone so we dont screw our phones up?
