If you're traveling in a new area you 'do' need a base for comparison. A comparison program that uses the same GPS antenna is vital to this testing phase. Absolutely vital. And I'm glad we have it. I will continue to use it as a base comparison - but if you're forbidding it from being mentioned - out of respect - I won't mention it by name anymore. I've done testing like this for more than 20 years, D. I know what I'm doing, bro. - but I respect your desire for staying focused.
If you respect it don't sound condescending. -> "doing this for 20 years"

MyLocation does not use the same local libraries as the tweak.
Before you argue this check your file system content for each in in Cydia

As I said I don't care what MyLocation is doing. It provides a latitude an longitude. That's all.
Test whatever you like, that's your prerogative, but when I say it doesn't help here you should listen and not try and argue the point back. The only relevant info we need is in regards to the tweak. That helps.
Nonsense comparisons in regards to when MyLocation is updating and when the tweak is updating around that is irrelevant.

I already noted what helps. The weather log (logging enabled) and crash reporter (for if a safe mode occurs)
These are what are being requested to send. Along with the usual notes, didn't update, hasn't updated, ect in regards to function.

I'm curious Grant, do you wonder why you weren't invited to be part of the beta testing?

Guys, one thing I have noticed with my setup. (1.4.8, Semi, 15 minutes). After I respring during html modding or whatever, I need to turn location services ON for a bit. That kickstarts the widget to update on regular intervals. Once I see that it has updated, I turn OFF location services and it works great as long as I don't respring. The only time it fails to meet the 15 min timings is when the phone goes to sleep. Once I press home to see the lockscreen, it updates. I guess that is normal because I don't really care what the weather is doing while my phone is on the kitchen counter. I like the tweak. Keep up the good work guys.

    Edited from my first response:
I overreached in my response to the above. My apologies, all. It's Durben & King's tweak. Their rules about what input they want.

The tweak isn't sending/receiving when the phone is in deep sleep.
And yes it kicks in right away when you wake it up.

As for location services, not sure why you turn them off. It's definitely needed for localization.
Although it is updating the weather for your location. When something changes like a respring I can see why it shuts down after. When the tweak is initializing it needs location service on to check.

Quick question, can someone tell me what "detail 3" and "detail 7" means?

    Well I'll post for you

Its likely something the dev uses to debug certain parts of the tweak.
Mine is always 0 (zero) not seen the 3 or 7. We can ask exactly what each is if needed though.

    Is yours updating fine Ian?

*already posed the question to Stephen. Will let you know when we hear anything.

Thanks for fielding all these questions D!

    Grant,

Let me see if I can help you to understand this.

Comparing the MyLocation app to this tweak is like saying that you orange juice doesn't have enough apple taste in it. Now before you start disagreeing with me hear me out.

    Lets compare them both:

    MyLocation:

Constantly checks your location to the last recorded location and if it is outside the change radius it records the new location.

That's it! It does nothing more, ever! End if discussion on that.

    WW:

Also constantly checks to see if the last recorded location is outside the change radius. If so, then it forces the stock weather app to update an XML file that includes all the weather data needed to update all widgets at their set interval which I believe is either every second or every minute. This is only one setting that in no way can even be compared to the ML app.

Now I can go through all the options, but the comparison only gets further and further apart. You are trying to use a control that shares resources that I'm sure we would all agree are working fine. By share resources I'm talking specifically about the use of the antennae, GPS chip etc.

So you point doesn't really help us. We are telling you what we need, but you are insistent on telling us what we need. This is the reason that you weren't included in the beta. Simple answer is your unwilling to do what is asked.

Sorry bud. We have been living this for weeks and want to get it working for most. All would be great, but it is a rather in depth tweak and we are not expecting miracles when running it on a hacked OS!

    Thanks for your help.

Likely debug info from Stephen, if there's a problem it's probably worth telling him those as they will only really mean anything to him

    Hi pal,

It updated fine all day yesterday but it's slow to start working in the morning. During night I have my phone on Airplane mode as don't need people from my company in Germany calling me nightly. When I switch Airplane mode off in the morning the widget doesn't update, I open the native weather app & it updates, I re-spring, I wait for the 15 minute timer but still no update.

Eventually it updates.. today maybe it was an hour after I switch on.
I have all screen shots and when I look at the log I see these two debug codes so just wondered what they meant.

    All the best bud.

This is very similar to my experience. An extended period of non update then it kicks in (Constant; 5 min update interval). But in my case the "switching off" function I do isn't Airplane mode but toggling Location Services off when I'm Indoors.

Got it, Thanks. I turn location OFF because I don't move around and I don't want the battery drain for no reason. I do turn it on when I travel.

    Hi Grant,

This is the hardest things to fix as all seems good on Druben's phone, I also have this weird things often when I work with Dacal on the UniAW, things that don't work for me work for him LOL.. and so it's difficult to pinpoint the issue when it's not their.
Part of the problem with Dacal & I was I had poor internet connection and Dacal's was stable, so I was seeing issues he didn't.

If Derrick & Brian have internet on all the time I believe they may never see this issue as it does seem only to be an issue with those of us who disconnect periodically.

It's not a major thing and if it really is an issue then it will happen to Derrick/Brian sooner or later, then they will get a chance to troubleshoot.

Maybe Derrick, Brian or Dacal would be willing to turn off their internet or go on Airplane mode or whatever for a few hours and test what happens when they switch back on, thing is I don't know how long we have to be disconnected before we see some issue, all night does it for me.

Yes Ian, I will try airplane mode to see what I get.

You are correct in that my Internet is excellent. I have LTE 100% of the time when going to work and traveling local for normal everyday living. I do use wifi, but only at home and at work and then not everyday. I have unlimited and LTE is faster than wifi so I only turn on wifi if I'm doing some large files. I don't care about battery usage so I always leave location services on too.
