Hi all, This is my first post and i really hope someone can help me!

After having my Iphone 3g jailbroken on 2.2FW for a while i decided to try and update it (then later jailbreak it) to the 2.2.1FW However during the update with iTunes it all went wrong!
after restarting several times it showed the recovery screen and windows tried to locate drivers for the phone... unsuccessfuly!

I honestly don't know what to do and any advice would be very appreciated. BTW i'm using windows vista home premium x64, iTunes is 8.1 and the phone was on 2.2 jailbroken when i tried to update it.

iTunes 8.1 installs drivers for the iPhone. When you plug into iTunes and hot restore what happens EXACTLY?

Uhmm, sorry, i'm not 100% sure what you mean but it isn't even showing up in iTunes at the moment

Every time i plug it in Windows Searches for drivers for "Apple Mobile Deive (Recovery Mode)" and doesn't find anything, i've tried browsing to "CProgram Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support" for the Drivers yet it still says "Windows could not find driver software for your device."

Try restarting your computer... I remember my iTunes didn't recognize my iPhone then I just restarted the computer, plugged the phone in and it recognized it.

Restarting didn't help at all , I wish the solution was something that simple

I managed to get the phone into DFU mode but still windows can't seem to find any drivers for the phone unless it's in it's 'normal' mode (which i can't find a way to change)

This is the problem, although i can get it into DFU mode the Iphone will not show up in iTunes because windows can't seem to locate drivers for the phone while it is in DFU mode or Recovery mode

The only thing it shows up under is the device manager as "Apple mobile device (Recovery mode)"

Download the 32 bit version of iTunes if you're currently using the 64bit version.

    Downloading right now *fingers crossed*

Still didn't work, i downloaded 32 bit itunes, installed it, opened it, then plugged in my iphone and all that happens it windows tries to find the drivers for it

Also tried installing the 64 bit version again and the same thing happens

Is there anyone out there that knows how to get it out of recovery mode without it being recognized by my computer/Shown in itunes?

Try manually uninstalling Apple Mobile Device Support and then reinstall iTunes.

Should i reinstall the 32 or 64 bit version of iTunes?

Never mind, tried both versions with no luck, still getting the boot screen for a bit after i plug it in then it changes to the recovery screen.. well the jailbroken version of the recovery screen anyways.

    Anyone have some ideas?

    Finally it's working!!!!!!!!!!!

After having a pop up saying that itunes 8.2 something was available to download i updated it, plugged in my iphone one more time and the driver's installed perfectly

So happy i don't have to spend another 390 for a new one ... though i'm sad to say after that shock i won't be jailbreaking any more

Also thanks to everyone that replied to my thread and tried to help
