    Hi all,

I am considering jailbreaking my iPhone 3G 3.0. Before I do though, I'd like some clarification about Active Sync/Exchange email support on a jailbroken phone.

I can't seem to find a conclusive answer as to whether or not support for Active Sync/Exchange email accounts remain in tact when Jailbroken. i.e. Full functionality and instant push delivery.

I also have a Gmail account, that I assume will perform the same way after jailbreak. Is this correct?

I read some information about Push notification being buggy or broken. Is this just the screen notifications from apps? Does this issue affect on screen notification of text messages etc?

Lastly, is there an app that would let me know I have new email on my locked screen? Say perhaps a little envelope image appears on the carrier/time/battery bar?

    Thanks in advance for clarifying!

Exchange works perfect for me. Push emails arrive almost instantly, in fact, sometimes I get them on my iPhone before my desktop client.

I have multiple Gmail accounts as well and everything works great there too.

I haven't had any problems with push notifications. I believe that only unlocked phones are having issues there.

There are a couple apps that will alert you to new email. Check out Elert.
