    Hi,

Just converted from WM6.5 to iPhone 3gs. Best move I ever made! To think I would still have been ignorant if my wife hadn't already got one!!

Anyway, I have a basic questions regarding Jailbreaking.

My new 3GS has Firmware 3.0.1. I understand thatI will need to downgrade to 3.0 to install JB. Will I lose any functionality at level 3? e.g. will voice dialling vanish?

More to come as I get into this!

    TIA

No, you do not need to downgrade. You will have to have a copy of the 3.0 firmware on your computer though. When you run redsnow.8 you direct it to the 3.0 firmware instead of your 3.0.1 firmware when it asks for the ipsw in step one.

    You do not lose anything.

Whatever you do...DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR PHONE TO THE NEW 3.1 IN ITUNES.

if you're lucky you can still jailbreak. but you cannot unlock anymore.

Great! I bought the phone unlocked so I guess everything is ok?

    Cheers

it probably is. it's highly likely you can just use a new version of redsn0w to jailbreak
