Hey guys i am running a 3GS on 3.1.3 with iBoot 359.3 ... Now I mistakenly a few months ago went to do the jailbreak for 3.1.2 not realizing that Apple had already released the 3.1.3... so I was follow the directions for 3.1.2 when I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working after a dozen times I checked my firmware and that is when I realized APPLE! Released the 3.1.3 ... everywhere I look they say you can't Jailbreak. BUT!!! I remember when I had Cydia on my 3.0.1 I did that whole SHSH as I remember seeing it everytime I entered the program. Wheredo I go from here? I know that doing the shsh was for a reason but I have lost all hope that I will ever have a Jailbroken iPhone again. Please provide any advise you can give. Thanks

Downgrade to 3.1.2, jailbreak with blackra1n, shift-restore to a custom 4.0 firmware made with pwnagetool.

On the downgrading part, all you need to know is here: Caching Apple's Signature Server - Jay Freeman (saurik) - after getting stuck on error 1015 the second time, just boot with blackra1n.

I am definitely having a tought time finding my iboot version:
I believe my iphone is in DFU mode (I get a black screen + in USB View "Apple Recovery (DFU) USB Driver")
    - I tried obtaining the iboot version from both the Device Manager and USB View, but there is absolutely nothing:
    USB View displays the following:

    Device Descriptor:
    bcdUSB: 0x0200
    bDeviceClass: 0x00
    bDeviceSubClass: 0x00
    bDeviceProtocol: 0x00
    bMaxPacketSize0: 0x40 (64)
    idVendor: 0x05AC (Apple Computer)
    idProduct: 0x1227
    bcdDevice: 0x0000
    iManufacturer: 0x01
    iProduct: 0x02
    iSerialNumber: 0x03
    bNumConfigurations: 0x01

    ConnectionStatus: DeviceConnected
    Current Config Value: 0x01
    Device Bus Speed: High
    Device Address: 0x01
    Open Pipes: 0

Should I assume that I have the latest version? Any advice?
    Thanks.

If you are currently running iOS4 you need to be able to downgrade to JB, if you dont have SHSH saved your SOL for now.

Alright so I got my iPhone 3gs (firmware 4.0) about a week ago. I did the DUF thingy but when I go to Device Manger > Apple Mobile Device > Details > scroll down bar, I do not see Device Instance Path, only Device Instance ID and a bunch of other things and so I cannot identify the iBoot version of my iPhone. I also tried it on usbview and I could not find it there either :S

    Thanks for any help

EDIT: I got it to work. I had to use System information Viewer http://www.softpedia.com/progDownloa...oad-27447.html, click on USB Bus and then on the Apple device and then look for the iBoot number. worked like a charm

I am not a complete novice in jailbreaking as I have had 2g, 3g and 3gs all jailbroken.
I have at the moment a 3gs on 3.1.3 previously jailbroken with blackrain, now spirit, and unlocked by O2, which I'm leaving be at the moment.
The 2nd is a 3gs, also unlocked by O2 and upgraded to the new OS4. I have read threads until my head is cabbaged, with goldra1n, spirit2pwn, sn0wbreeze and others, so my question is can I and how do I jailbreak the second phone now on os4? Do I need to go back to 3.1.3?
Obviously an unlock is unneccesary as it has an official unlock.

Thanks. Hold Home+Power buttons to get out of Restore. You can copy/paste the iboot etc. No need to write it down.
Hello guys, i found lots of users worried about finding the BootRom version of their iphones. Here is a solution.

To check iPhone 3G/3GS bootrom version:

Put your iphone in DFU mode.
(Connect your iPhone to iTunes, turn off, click power+home button for 10 seconds, leave POWER button after 10 seconds, holding HOME button)

iTunes will detect your iPhone in recovery mode.

    Go To:

    Start->Control Panel->Device Manager

In Universal Serial BUS Controller, you will find Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

Right Click and go to Properties, go to Details tab and select "Device Instance Path" from the drop down list box.

In that information, u will find [iBoot-359.x] at the end.

    Thanks & Regards

Bootrom version is irrelevant with new pwnagtool.

Which phone do you have and which firmware are you on? Which baseband do you have? Do you have a mac or a pc?

At 3.1.3 , you can use Spiritjb.com to jailbreak or use jailbreakme 2.0 from safari on your iphone and slide to jailbreak.
Install Ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock.

pwnagetool works for you regardless if you have old or new bootrom (downloading a PT CFW would work). Just for info though, you have new bootrom.

I don't think you guys are really getting it into DFU mode. I have a week 46 3GS and if you follow these instructions you will get it into DFU mode.

How to put your iPhone in DFU mode :

    1. Connect your iPhone to your computer.
    2. Turn iPhone off.
    3. Hold power and home together for 10 seconds (exactly).
    4. Release power but keep holding home until the computers beeps (observed on a PC) as a USB device is recognized.
    5. A few seconds later iTunes should detect your iPhone.
    6. If the Restore Logo is present on the screen, you are in Recovery Mode, not DFU.

    (windows machines only)
    Download USB view: http://www.ftdichip.com/Resources/Utilities/usbview.zip

Open it.. go to options the check config descriptors.

The file and refresh. Go down to Apple Mobile device (make sure it says DFU mode and not recovery mode) click on it and look to the right it clearly says iboot xxx.x.x

It took me a few times to get it right but once I did I seen it. I have the new iBoot and its tethered. Until Geohot or the Devteam get something out there we are stuck. Until the next nerd comes by and figures it out.

You don't need to restore out of DFU mode either you can just hold the power and home button down till you see the apple logo and let it restart.
pls tell me which of the bootrom is unlocable, as far till now?
can downgrade thw bootroms to egt it unlocked.(i have upadated to 4.1 )

Unlock isn't determined by bootrom but by badeband . Your baseband is currently not unlockable at 4.1
