It's almost 5 am so you all can just about guess how much this is on my mind.

I know I've asked this before but now I just want to upgrade to 3.1.3. I don't care about the jailbreak as much as I care about my unlock with Tmobile.

I have an 3G 8gb iPhone running the 3.0 version with firmware 04.26.08. The first 2 letters of the model number is MB followed by the rest of the numbers and letters. The only thing is that the previous owner must have put some type of 3gs upgrade on the iPhone because in the "About" section it says it is a 3gs phone even though 3gs wasn't available in 8gb.

Now I've been reading that there is an unlock and jailbreak for 3gs iPhones with an early bootrom. My question is would I fall into that category? If so, can someone please direct me to the instructions? I found this link but I wasn't too sure if it applied to me:

    Unlock iPhone 3.1.3 3G 3GS with ultrasn0w | Redmond Pie

I don't have a mac. Only a pc. Thanks for any advice.

why do you want to upgrade so badly ?
just stay in 3.o...there is nothing spectacular in 3.1.3

Because most apps that I want require 3.1 and I can no longer go to 3.1.2 since Apple is no longer signing it.

Haha! I've tried that and it not only doesn't work for the apps I want (keeps crashing), but I've read countless posts where it caused harm to iPhones so I put my original info and deleted it.

well anyone who upgrades can loose their unlock, but without adequate information no one can gove you REAL advice...u state that its a 3G but then say this

"The only thing is that the previous owner must have put some type of 3gs upgrade on the iPhone because in the "About" section it says it is a 3gs phone even though 3gs wasn't available in 8gb. "

so basically it makes me think that you dont kno which iphone you have....therefor i cant give u advice on what to do then end up being the wrong thing...

now if it is a 3G, then all u have to do is create a custom firmware and ur pretty much set...keep ur jailbreak and your unlock...but if its a 3GS then things change...so if u can provide "REAL" information thats accurate then maybe we can help u....

simple create custom 3.1.3 with pwnage tool and upgrade, your baseband will stay the same and then when you are upgraded and jailbroken using the custom firmware then you can load ultrasn0w and you will be unlocked on your iPhone 3G with 3.1.3

Look. It's as easy as it was typed. Everyone knows that the 3gs didn't come in 8gb! That's why I made it a point to say that the PREVIOUS owner must have intalled something on the phone for it read 3gs! I'll even try to post a pic of what I am talking about.. As for pwnage, I don't have a mac. Only a PC.

you can try using sn0wbreeze to create a custom 3.1.3 but I would search high and low for someone with a mac as I have heard sn0wbreeze is kind of buggy...if not search google for an already made custom 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 that was made with pwnagetool

Where does it state that it's a 3GS? It doesn't do that on a normal 3GS.

When I look under "settings" in the about section. It says 3GS 8GB. I am going to take a pic and post it shortly.

Weird. Mine doesn't do that. Maybe the guy installed an app that adds that line because he wanted people to think he had a 3GS.

it should not say anything in the "about" section about being an 8gig 3gs...if u are refering to the name it shows at the top that can be change to say whatever u want it to..if it is truely an 8gig phone then it is a 3g which is easy to restore to custom firmwares

Snowbreeze walks you through making a custom firmware step by step. Were I you, I would get snowbreeze version 1.2 to use with firmware 3.1.2. The unlocks don't play well together with 3.1.3. So...1)download the original 3.1.2 firmware(they are listed in the downloads section here on MMI). Make sure it is for the 3G. 2) Download snowbreeze version 1.2. 3)Run snowbreeze and point it at your 3.1.2 firmware you downloaded. 4)Pay attention to when it askes you whether or not you are with an official carrier. 5) Once all of the options are gone through select Create ispw. 6)Start iTunes and hold the Shift button while you press restore. 7)Select your custom firmware you created when the popup box comes up. It should be on your desktop.
