I have unlocked my phone and am having an extremely horrible time with dropped calls and different issues. SOO I want to install the origin firmware without the jailbreak on it. I have a 3G iphone, what steps do I need to take to remove the jailbreak and virgin-ize the phone?

This probably is posted somewhere else but am in a hurry and didn't see it on first glance.

On a 3g just restore to the firmware you want if you are not concerned about unlock, jailbreak or baseband update

Can I just plug it into iTunes and let it update it to the current version without it bricking the iPhone?

After restoring your iPhone with itunes select new phone. If you were having problems before more then likely you will have the same problems again if you restore to the latest backup. When I tune backs up your iPhone sometimes it backs up the problems with it. From my past experience I have found it easier to just select the new phone if you want a fresh new start.
