That is in fact a windows problem. Create a repair disk using the windows 7 (looking at the fault log your are on windows 7) cd and run it.

It shouldnt remove personal files. It will just repair damaged files. Once the disk is created, reboot you pc with the disk in the drive and follow the onscreen instructions.

Hiya, never posted to these forums but always check through for answers to problems im having. Current problem is trying to shift restore on itunes but it crashes on win 7 everytime i try. Im told that if i update my jailbroken phone I will lose the space that was taken up by the jailbreak. Not sure if this is true but I dont want to take the risk.

Anyway, my solution isnt fully tested but does seem like it should work. If you have windows 7 you can download XP mode from microsoft website and then run your PC on an XP OS. This XP mode doesnt pick up any programs or files saved to your computer so you will have to download itunes again.

From here on in its all theory though as I havent tested anything further than actually pressing shift + restore to see if it crashes.... it doesnt.

So i figure that if you shift restore through your itunes in xp then you should be able to complete that, then return to your own itunes. Sync with it to get your data back and then run redsn0w or whatever your choice of program is.

I really hope this works. Please dont rush into this as my plan is based on basic knowledge of itunes and iphone so I would hate to muck up someones phone.

If anyone sees any holes in this, please let me know before i try it! lol

    Cheers again
