You can get your ecid manually and put it into tiny umbrella to check what SHSH you have.

The one from here: The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella

1004 is an expected error. All you need to do now is open tiny umbrella, click on your device and click the exit recovery button at top right.

    jailbreakme.com is best for 4.0.1

I wouldnt suggest 4.2.1 or 4.3b because it will be tethered and you could very easily update your baseband by mistake. 4.1 is a possibility for you though.

What method you suggest? should i use custom 4.1 or actual 4.1. I just do not want to lose my 1.59.00 bb.

Doesnt matter. It is impossible for you to update your baseband by restoring to 4.1 now because Apple is no longer signing the baseband SHSH for 4.1 for iPhone 4. Just make sure to stay faaaarr away from 4.2.1.

What do you mean by saying "It is impossible for you to update your baseband by restoring to 4.1 now because Apple is no longer signing the baseband SHSH for 4.1 for iPhone 4.".

Can i update my fw to 4.1 with using tiny umbrella or no?

iPhone 4 have two sets of SHSH when restoring. The regular firmware SHSH (which you have 4.1 SHSH for in cydia) and the baseband SHSH. Apple is no longer signing 4.1 SHSH for firmware or baseband. So by you using your 4.1 firmware SHSH you can get itunes to restore to 4.1, however when you get to the baseband part it will fail to get the baseband SHSH, which is a good thing for unlockers. That is what will give you the 1004 error which tiny umbrella can exit recovery after.

So in basic terms the only way a iPhone 4 can update baseband right now would be restoring to 4.2.1 or 4.3b. So it is perfectly safe for a unlocker to restore to 4.1 on iPhone 4 without updating baseband.

This only applies to iPhone 4 though.

Ok, i have to ask and confirm before i do.

    Open umbrella/ hit start tss/open itunes/put iphone in DFU/ select 4.1 fw(original)/ and wait/ kick out of recovery/

    Is this the way???

The thing is, i have read your tiny umbrella using post. You said it supports only restore not update.

This is confusing me. My iphone 4 4.0.1 never been in 4.1 so does that count as an update?

You got it down. Dont exit recovery until after you get the 1004 error.
