My wife has a 3g iphone that is unlocked and jailbroken that she bought like that maybe a month and a half ago. She wants to go to iOS 4.0 from 3.1.2 When i start Cydia, I see nothing at the top of the page about any shsh. Can she still go to 4.0? If so, how. Thank you for your help.

Yes she can even go to 4.0.2 if she wants. Redsn0w will jailbreak 4.0/4.0.1/4.0.2 just point it to the 4.0 firmware when you open it.

The 3g is deathly slow on 4.0. Also SHSH blobs don't apply to a 3g until 4.0.1, I believe, so you should be able to load th 4.0 software with out issues. Once you have the 4.0 ipsw downloaded to your pc hold shift and click restore in itunes then choose the 4.0 ipsw. If it works your good to jb it with JailbreakMe or redsn0w. I would personally go with the redsn0w jb for stability because its a bootrom jb so in the future it will still work. But if you don't want to be bothered, then use the jbme.com.

This should give you an idea on how to jb if you choose the redsn0w jb.
