Ok i have a jailbroken iPhone 4 with 4.0.1. When i saved my SHSHs on my computer using Umbrella its shows ECID saved for Iphone 4 for 4.0.2 and when i open up cydia its says "This device has SHSHs on file for iphone OS:iOS: 4.0.2"

I dont want it for 4.0.2 i wanto to save it for my current firmware 4.0.1.... Why is umbrella and cydia saving it for 4.0.2 when 1) phone is using 4.0.1 and 2) 4.0.2 cant be jail broken?

How do it save the SHSHs for 4.0.1 on iPhone 4?

I went through great lengths to get replace my old iPhone 4 (4.0.2) to this one with 4.0.1..

It doesn't matter if your iphone is on 4.0.1. It only matters what firmwares apple is signing right now which is 4.0.2. So its good that you are on 4.0.1 just make sure you don't have to restore for any reason or you will be forced to update.

Okay, there's just a lack of clarity about concept here, so I'll pitch in my explanation.

SHSHs don't come from your phone. Your phone's unique ECID is a part of any SHSH, but the other components must come from Apple.

Apple has a TSS server that dishes up SHSHs on demand. Sounds good, right? The problem is, when they release a new version of any iOS, they at some point stop signing the previous one. 4.0.1 was the previous version, now superceded by 4.0.2, and the last known signing day for 4.0.1 was 8/19/10.

Which unfortunately means, there's no way at all to get a new 4.0.1 SHSH for your particular phone, because it's generated outside of your phone by a company that doesn't want you to have the SHSH, called Apple.

Thanks for the better explanation, after answering this question multiple times it gets to be a little tiresome sometimes so I take shortcuts
