I am going to be buying a iPhone 4G in the next week or so, which will most probably come with the latest firmware.

Is there any chance of having this jailbroken without the need of jailbreak-ing it again like blackrain? I am on a 3GS with blackrain currently and really would prefer something like spirit, which does not cause any issues when restarting my iphone.

    Thanks!

No one knows right now whether or not the next jailbreak will be a tethered one or not, we will just have to wait and see

BTW, it is iPhone 4 not iPhone 4G. The iPhone 4 is still a 3G device. Even unlocked, it's not going to work on Sprint's 4G network. You will not be able to jailbreak at the present time. When and if there is a jailbreak for 4.1 firmware, you might be able to do it then. But until the jailbreak is actually released, it will be mere speculation by everyone.

Alot of people just say 4G meaning 4th generation.. But before you get all defensive it does annoy me sometimes as well

It's just a minor annoyance. Better for the people to know early on than look like noobs for a long time

The iPhone naming is all whack, lol. First gen is called 2G, second gen is called 3G, and third gen is 3GS :P The only one named properly is iPhone 4.

Saying 4G is technically correct but seeing as the 3G was named for running on 3G then we'd assume 4G means it runs on 4G which like everyone else says, is not possible at the moment. Sooo yes, i dont like saying/seeing iPhone 4G
