I have 4.0.2 jailbroken and unlocked with limerain and ultrasnow.

My 3gs is however after crashing and is in a permanent state of rebooting! If I restore do I lose jailbreak and unlock? will I have to restore in recovery/DFU mode?

More importantly if I restore will itunes update me to 4.1 and the latest baseband? I have shshs saved for 4.0.2 (Is this useless?)

Ive done a lot of searching for this and would love if someone could answer.... I really need the unlock.

use TU and restore and yes it will save baseband and update you to 4.1...The link is somewhere here in the forums on the correct way to do it...

make sure you save your blobs

I jb with a Sn0wbreeze custom fm to 4.1 and activated with an att sim then unlocked with ultra snow no issues with baseband as Sn0breeze never updates it.

if you have a new bootrom 3GS then a custom firmware is out of the question (using sn0wbreeze)

use TU and restore and yes it will save baseband and update you to 4.1...The link is somewhere here in the forums on the correct way to do it...

tinyumbrella will only preserve the baseband when updating to 4.1 on the iPhone 4, it doesn't work for the 3GS

So what I gather If I restore either way Im going to be updating my baseband and losing my unlock? If I restore with no internet connection how can itunes possibly upgrade though? Sorry im not super good at these things...

yes you will update you baseband when you restore, as far a no internet i'm pretty sure the update will fail because itunes will try to contact apple to verify the restore and if it can't it will fail.....
