    That's not encouraging. Try this...

Download and run Tiny Umbrella (link below), connect your device.
In advanced tab check 'get from cydia', press save SHSH button
In advanced tab uncheck 'get from cydia', press save SHSH button
In General tab .... what is listed?

Restore to custom fw of 4.1 will preserve your unlockable baseband.

    Good. Here's the story:

All 3GS restores (except the latest and greatest) require SHSH blobs.

iOS 4.3.3 is not available to you.
You can restore to 4.1 because you have SHSH blobs.
Using iFath (currently unavailable) a restorable 3.1.3 firmware can be created and used.

Personally, since 4.3.3 is unavailable I would prefer doing nothing or 3.1.3. Maybe I'm being overly cautious today.

What do you thing? Only three (3) choices exist: 3.1.3, 4.1, or do nothing !?!?

On the other hand, Mr iYeow is available to help with 4.1. He's the man

I am happy with 3.1.3, just calendar sync from MobileMe.com does not work any more.

If 3.1.3 is working fine except for calendar sync, maybe (likely) it's just a MobileMe issue. I've never used MobileMe, but there must be a way to reset it, or to start over. Also, the Apple forums are sure to have a lot more information about MobileMe/calendar sync issues. I suggest looking there before thinking about a major change in the iPhone/iOS firmware.

    So you don't want IOS 4.1...lol .

You will not be able to play games that requires IOS 4.xx, it is totally a new experience with IOS 4.xx as compared to 3.xx

    Just my opinion.

    ^Haha. Games? You like games?
That was the first thing I disabled. I still don't care for the unified email inbox (haha)
There are two things I like about 4.x, multitasking and folders, plus a small number of my favorite tweaks that require 4.x

how difficult is to update to 4.1? do i need to reinstall everything?

4.1 isn't difficult to restore ... but prior planning is needed to restore/reinstall your apps & data.

When upgrading between major versions (3.x to 4.x), it's best to set-up the phone as new.
    Contacts/calendar can be sync'd to Windows/Outlook/or Google.
    iTunes to sync music/apps/etc.
Use PkgBackup for Cydia apps/tweaks and stock iPhone app data (calendar, photos, sms, etc).

Plan ahead and make backups to avoid any loss..

Building and loading a custom firmware is necessary to preserve the baseband.

The SHSH blos are used to load a non-current iOS (current is 4.3.5). Tiny Umbrella is the SHSH blob manager and server. It retrieves them, and also serves them up to iTunes when needed (using the TSS Server option. It's fairly straight forward process. Save SHSH, Start TSS Server are the most common. SHSH blobs are displayed in the General window. Advanced tab has options like overwrite, get SHSH from Apple or Cydia, set or unset computer hosts file on exit.

Update for Good News : At this moment in time ..... loading 4.1 is even more simple. Why?
Apple is approving 4.1 for 3G and 3GS users. This means you don't need Tiny Umbrella for anything.
Just build the custom firmware and enter DFU with Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool, and load it w/iTunes.
