Hi there. I recently upgraded some packages on cydia. There were about 6 of them, one of which i believe was mobile substrate. After the upgrades downloaded and whatnot, I pressed "Restart Springboard." The usual spinny thing popped up, but it froze. After about 10 minutes, I gave my phone a hard reset. Now, the apple logo comes up followed by the spinny thing, and then just freezes.

    Please help.

Reboot ya phone and hold the volume up button that should bring ya to safe mode. And turn the ones ya updates off and see if that fixes it.

I have this same problem with my phone and holding the volume up button doesn't do anything. Any other suggestions? I think I have iOS 4.2 on an iPhone 4. Thanks

^Why not update to the latest firmware?

Do not use a backup, clean restore then re-jailbreak.

I would but I don't have some things backed up.

Hmmmmm, so it will not turn on at all so you can sync?

I think your going to be forced to restore. May I suggest using the Cloud in the future to always back up your device.

It turns on to the point where it's just got the spinning thing as if its about to start spring board or something and just freezes there.

    Going to have to restore.
    1. Connect your iPhone to the computer and start iTunes.
    2. Turn off your iPhone by holding down the Sleep button and slide to power off.
    3. Press and hold down the Sleep button and Home button simultaneously.
    4. After 10 seconds release the Sleep button but continue to hold the Home button down.
    5. iTunes will pop up a window that says it has "detected an iPhone in recovery mode."
