Hey guys, I've recently gotten my iPhone5 replacement set and it runs on 6.0.1. Is there by any ways that I can update it to 6.1.2 instead of 6.1.3 through itunes? I have downloaded the 6.1.2 firmware, and tried the 'shift+leftclick' method to try updating the phone, but it keeps giving me the error message.

No kidding, you downloaded the 6.1.2 IPSW, to try to go for it. I told you it is not possible and that there is no need to do it, since there is almost no difference between 6.0.1 and 6.1.2, Hahaha, very funny

for example because of restoring my data backup from 6.1.2 old iphone 4 to my new iphone 5? itunes is telling me that it cannot restore backup because of older ios inside the new iphone 5

i really want to upgrade to 6.1.2 instead of 6.1.3 or keeping 6.0.1. otherwise i have to install and setup everything from scratch again and i dont want to waste my time with that.

can somebody here please find the solution?

ok. i don't need it now because i found another solution of my problem and simply changed version number in the info.plist file inside the folder of the itunes backup

if you read what i wrote before, i wanted 6.1.2 because of restoring an backup of my iphone 4 to my iphone 5 with older sw. so i preserved 6.0.2 in iphone 5 and changed the version in the info.plist file in the backup. with this i solved my issue with needing of upgrade (now i don't need it)

thank you so much for this! I edited the .plist and that let me restore the back up from my old 4S (6.1.2) to my new iPhone 5 (6.0.1). so now I can still enjoy the jailbreak. you deserve a nobel!

youre welcome i googled it something like restoring from 6.1.2 to 6.0.1 maybe with this file you can also customize your backups and restore/copy content between different iphone configurations but it's only an idea, i dont need to do this now bye

    Hi,

I currently am using an iPhone 4S, which was jailbroken, and now it is in ios 6.1.3. So i lost my jailbreak.

I would like to buy a new iPhone 4S, with any iOS version lower than 6.1.3 [ I would see the iOS version in new phone by entering the serial number on the website sndeep.info .]

If all goes well and i buy a brand new iPhone 4S with 6.1 or 6.1.1 or 6.1.2.

Will i be able to restore all my data to it from the existing iPhone 4S 6.1.3 backup? [ This can be done by changing the ios 6.1.3 version from back up info.plist file to the iOS version on new phone] I will set it up from iTunes Backup not as a new iPhone. , secondly how will i stop it from upgrading to 6.1.3 and Lastly Will i be able to successfully jailbreak it?

Please correct me if i am wrong anywhere.

Please post your views so that if its possible i would spend some dear money and buy a new phone and sell my old phone.

    Thanks a Ton!!!

You should be able to restore the backup from the 4s to the 5 if you backed it up via itunes.

I dont understand, what does editing the info.plist file have anything to do with being able to restore from backup?

If you do not want to upgrade, then dont update in itunes when it prompts you, and dont update if it prompts you on the phone.

If you have a 4s with iOS 6.1.2 or lower, you can still jailbreak.

i have a jailbroken iphone5 on 6.0.1. I want to keep my jailbreak and update to 6.1.2 (or .1.3. or .1.4). When I try to option click update with 6.1.2...it says "ineligible for update". Can I update through iTunes to 6.1.4 (without option click) and keep my Jailbreak? If not, any suggestions to upgrade from the 6.0.1 to at least 6.1.2 without losing jailbreak?

    Long story short, no. Sorry.

You cannot restore or update to any version of iOS except for iOS 6.1.4 at this time, period.
You cannot jailbreak iOS 6.1.4 on the iPhone 5, period.
