I cant believe Im actually asking this but my wife's iPh4 home button is failing so I need to wipe my jailbroken iPh5 so that there are no jailbreak files, apps, tweaks changes remain.
I know I can plug it into iTunes and choose to restore or upgrade (i'm on 6.1.2 when I jailbroke my device) but i'm not sure if ALL the files added in the iOS partition are removed with this method.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I only jailbroke my devices not returned to a stock device...
I hope to end up with a iOS7 when all is said and done.

I guess since I HAVE to give my wife my new iPh5 I'll just have to get a 5s Friday!!!
The sacrifices I do for her.

    Thanks

You can either do a DFU restore via iTunes to iOS 7.0 (wouldn't recommend that personally, but it's an option), or you can use a tool like Semi-Restore or iLEX R.A.T. to essentially wipe your 6.1.2 phone to a freshly-jailbroken clean slate and give that to her.

Not sure what use a tool like Semi-Restore or iLEX R.A.T."?
So I cant or should't update or restore via iTunes?

Could you further share about the above mentioned?
I also assume I have to do this before tomorrow since 7 is being released?

Also I only have a iMAC are these methods available on MACs?
I noticed that most methods for jailbreaking ect. require PC's

I think he was thinking about wiping it clean, but still having the jailbreak.
Semi-Restore works great, one click operation, all is removed except Cydia.
It can be done at anytime as long as you don't update the firmware.

Actually I am looking to wipe the device so that it is like out of the box.
No jailbreak just a fresh out of the box iPhone.
She is not interested in any of the jailbreak stuff, and if there is ever a problem she wants to be able to go to the Apple store.

So what direction or method would you recommend?

My hope is to wipe this and then update to iOS7 and give it to her.

    Thanks

OK so I just successfully ran iLEX RAT.
So now what can I do to un-jailbreak?

    Thanks

If ya not worried about the jailbreak i would just restore and not worth about nothing. Restore as new.

OK so after successfully running iLEX RAT, I plugged in the iPh5 and clicked on restore.
But what is strange instead of iTunes restoring 6.1.2 it updated it to 6.1.4.

    Is that right?
And is it safe to say that the device has been reset to out of box, with no signs of the jailbreak files left behind?

If that is right tomorrow i'll update to iOS7 for my wife.

    Thanks

That;s correct, iTunes restore is always going to update you to the newest firmware. You can ow move up to iOS7 if you want, as it has been released.
