I just sold my 2G phone on ebay...before I ship I want to erase personal info, pics etc. I don't want to screw up the jailbreak for the new owner. How do I do it? I've searchedx but found no info regarding wiping and it's affect on the jailbreak.
BTW: The phone has no service now cause I upgraded to the 3G.

There is now way to wipe it and preserve the jailbreak. Best thing to do is shift+restore to 1.1.4 and just use your preferred tool to jailbreak/unlock/activate the phone depending on what the new owner needs.

I had the same problem but with my ipod touch. All i did was just manually delete everything such as the history, cache, mail accounts, contacts. It ended up working fine and might even be faster. Let me know if it helps.

your phone does not need to have a working sim inside the phone to jailbreak/unlock, so as the first response mentioned, you need to restore with a stock 1.1.4 and then rejailbreak, or use winpwn.

the other suggestion with deleting all data would work too but that deleted stuff can be very easily recovered if the person buying your phone knows how to do it

If you just click restore, you will be upgraded to 2.0. If you want to keep it on 1.1.4, hold the shift and click restore then select the 1.1.4 restore file.

Hold 'shift" and click restore or click 'control' and restore? I screwed it up once before so I want to get it straight.
When I do that will a menu pop up for me to select 1.1.4?

Ok...I restored successfully. I used to Ziphone to jailbreak+activate. I tried to download an app using apptapp(using wifi since I have no phone service on this phone)...it fails to load stating ".....can't find host" . what is causing this?

im shocked no1 knew the answer to this.
    setting>general>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings.

This can be done after the phone is jailbroken.
