    Hello all!

My girlfriend just got an 8GB 2G iPhone. She has a pair of current model Sennheiser headphones which plug in & work fine for listening to music.

However when she plugs the iPhone into a set of powered speakers at her work and plays back music via the phone's "iPod", sound appears to come out of the phone's internal speaker and not the "headphone socket" / the speakers she connects up.

Is there a specific type of plug which the Sennheisers happen to have (so they work fine) which might be different on the powered speakers? And if so does anyone make an adapter of some kind?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you mean she is plugging them into the headphone jack, or the usb port at the bottom?

Woops, didn't read "power speakers". Unless the speakers are specifically designed to work with the iPhone ( iPod does NOT count ). Then no it will not work with the powered speakers.

Headphone jack. I think this has something to do with the recessed nature of the iphone socket??

it has to plug in all the way, i dunno if your up for it but i just trim all my headphone plugins to make sure they go in all the way or it just seems that they play on the iphone speaker
