The directories I have run it one are:
    /private/var/stash/Applications.whatever
    /private/var/mobile/Applications
    /System/Library
Just got System/Library to go - it's rebooted after the first two...

    So far thanks

And I've got OSX rather than Windows 9.

But then you've probably got at least a coffee whereas I think I might have missed out. Hmmm!
    Windows 9? I'm still on Windows 7
But surely you can SSH from a Mac?

Oh yes! Still not sure why they call it "Cyber Duck" but yes we can!

Just realised, by doing an update rather than a restore I've still got all my texts....

What are you using to delete the iproj files? I am using Iphone browser and there is no shift+ Click option to select all of this stuff...

I used Winscp and ran peteo's script (I only run the delete, I didn't bother with the backup, but then I'm stupid)

    Here's SSH from Wikipedia:

Secure Shell or SSH is a network protocol that allows data to be exchanged using a secure channel between two networked devices. [1] Used primarily on Linux and Unix based systems to access shell accounts, SSH was designed as a replacement for Telnet and other insecure remote shells, which send information, notably passwords, in plaintext, leaving them open for interception.[2] The encryption used by SSH provides confidentiality and integrity of data over an insecure network, such as the Internet.

There are tons of ssh clients out for most OS's.
Putty is a free an popular windows one.

To use ssh, you must have a ssh server installed on the iPhone (cydia has one called openssh, you might already have it installed)
Then you can use your ssh client to talk to the iPhone and run commands.

Thank you for the info and really organized check list it helps a lot

HEY all credits go to real mods like whom you mentioned But not even a credit for the original starter of the thread ? and actually the original Idea of it ? that hurts

We will all be happy for an app to have this done automatically
Happy modding and have a nice day
AHHHH, I'm very sorry, Stallion, I didn't even think about that. Fixing now. My fault.

My phone is still fine after this, albeit not as much free memory as I've heard of some people getting. I took it very slowly and checked everything out after deleting sections to make sure it was legit. I wish either iGuy and confucious had an idea of what they might have done to make their device not boot.

I know that sometimes when you search for only the .lproj files that the CoreSignature ones will still show up, so maybe that was it? If you guys have any idea, let us know...

You guys should use my script. Its allot faster than hand moving the files, backs them up to 1 tar file in once place. Run it in the root of the directory and it does all the sub directories

The directories I have run it one are:
    /private/var/stash/Applications.whatever
    /private/var/mobile/Applications
    /System/Library

    Give it a try!

Yeah, I was just sort of nervous about running the script at first since I'm not great with that and I wanted to look around a bit.

Do you want me to put that script in the first post, peteo?

If you want. I know SB said they are working on a cydia app but this might be useful to people who want to do this now

So, I'm still using 2.2.1 (had bad experiences with 3.0), and used this like a guideline for the location of the files that contain .iprojs. Worked like a charm. I have yet to see my phone drop below 25MB even while multi tasking (using safari, ipod, and texting all at the same time).

    Thanks for the locations list!

I started doing this because of the first thread and, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but my battery life is a lot better. So far, I've only gotten through deleting the extra languages out of the Applications and I get about 5 or 6 more hours of overall use out of my iPhone than I did before.

How much free MB are you generally seeing?

On my 8gb 2g, I am currently seeing 50 MB! Thats from no use for the last hour and having no processes running. Thats the best I've ever experienced a 2g to run at! Although, I've heard of people who have built their own custom .ipsw via pwnage tool getting near that; but, I myself have never experienced such great performance on this 2 + year old device! How about you guys (not you 3gs folks...every time I hear about it...its just depressing how excited I'm getting about my measly 50 MB! )?

    ^Did you delete everything?

My tester that I did this on (2G 8GB) gets about 62MB free after a clear of processes and "Free Up Memory". This is without Winterboard however...

I'm going to say I got most of it. It's difficult to tell because the 2.2.1 files were named differently and certain ones were placed in different directories. I also found some that weren't listed in your post (which I would assume is due to my running 2.2.1). But if your experiencing such a wondrous 62 MB, perhaps I should upgrade (Although, I'm still skeptical. They've pushed on the 3rd series of the 3.1 beta relatively quickly don't you think?)! Sadly, it is true that I'm a sucker for some winterboard! I cant go without custom backgrounds! That would be like a crappy iPhone sandwich containing only meat and cheese!
