My lock/power button is jacked. I am fine right now for just using it daily as I have a gesture to shake and lock along with sbsettings to restart the phone, but I want to dual boot android and I need to have the phone go in and out of dfu and recovery mode to preform the hack.

Long story short, is there an app that can replicate me doing this via usb on my mac? I know pwnagetool does something similar when you are jailbreaking, so i know it is capable.

Pwnage, you can just have it place the phone into DFU. Just click......"DFU"

Can it handle recovery mode as well? Or can you comment if recovery mode is even required for the android hacking process? Also, would I be able to get my phone out of dfu with the power button not working and all?

    Understandable.

Anyone else that can comment before I dive in? Probably should not be doing this on my primary phone, but I am bored until I can finally unlock my 3G

Actually if I had a 3G lying around right now I would have installed it, just for kicks. But I have 2 3G[s]s

I'll trade you a 3G for one and you can have some fun My 2G can barely load a twitter app. Can't wait to upgrade to even a 3G.

Hahaha, thanks for the lookin out - wait till the next gen iphone comes out this summer, and if you dont get that, it will at least drive the 3g[s] prices down a bit.

What is this? I am confused/interested!

Well, I looked into it and was very excited until i realized that at the end i have to hold my power and home button in to go into "scrolling iboot" mode. My power button is broken!!! GRR

No worries. When I get home I am going to do this on my 3G since the process has been simplified to nothing basically. Thanks for posting that still!

Oh, no problem. I really want to try it, too. Might trade phones with my brother for a few days.

I'll probably wait until Power Management is actually working correctly, so my phone won't die in an hour.
