The black i4 does not have the grill like the white i4. Picture will up soon to show you. The black i4 is completely clear were the proximity sensor is.
If you would read through the thread here....I explained why. Its NO big deal at all...the hardware is EXACTLY the same.

I did read through thread all you said "
The black models are the same, you just cant see it because its all black. Thats it, no biggy.

PS- My black iphone4 has no issues with signal, or proximity sensor.
Its not a design change in the sensor...its just a change in the design of the glass screen.

This is because the white is not transparent like the black...so they had to put the little holes design on it so the light would still shine through to the sensor.

The actual hardware is exactly the same.
For your information the glass where the proximity sensor is on both Black and White model is transparent with a violet tent over the glass where the sensor is. The reason the White i4 has the grill like pattern who knows why to match the white theme of the iphone.

Its not tiny, so magnification wont help.

Hold the phone under and close to a bright light and you can see the sensor.
So I don't know how your able to see the sensor. You must have Xray vision.

Not trying to start up something here but you said that I needed to read through the whole thread. So here is the recap from my point.

I hope it dose not look like that they need to use the old sensor.

    Missing the point.

Anyways...why is this even a discussion anyways? Does the design over the proximity sensor actually matter to ya'll? I couldnt care less.

Not missing the point. Just don't see why Apple needs to have that pattern over the sensor? But anyway like you said before it doesn't affect the performance of the sensor.

Maybe someone in the design department thought it looked cool.

Honestly I like the grill. It gives the White i4 a unique look.
