So I was trying to restore my phone that was running 4.2.1 but it wasn't letting me. My phone was so messed up I finally just said screw it I'll just restore and update to 4.3.5 and wait for ios5 to rejailbreak.
So I hit restore and update to newest software, it went through the 20 min process and right before it finished I got a 1013 error and my phone got put into recovery mode showing the usb cord and itunes on my screen.
I tried hitting restore again and it gets about halfway though and gives me the 1013 message again. So my phone is just stuck in recovery mode, how can I fix??

Edit your hosts file and delete all lines that contain gs.apple.com and try again.

    Possibly an easier method:
Download and run Tiny Umbrella (link below). Advanced tab, uncheck 'set Hosts to Cydia on Exit', exit Tiny Umbrella.
    Try again.

Yes, close and exit Tiny Umbrella after unchecking 'set Hosts to Cydia on Exit'.

Exit all programs and start Terminal.

    Enter: $ sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
Search for and delete any lines that contain gs.apple.com. Save the file and exit.
    Reboot.

If you found any lines, try again. If not, report back.

I copied and pasted in terminal and it says command not found? I tried entering it with no spaces and that was a no go as well

Use Spotlight to search for Terminal and open. Enter the command inside terminal.

They must be deleted or commented for a successful restore.

If you need help using nano, a man[ual] page will help. Google 'man nano'

I'll keep searching but I haven't been able to find anything on how to delete those 2 lines, if someone else on here knows anything about how to delete them please let me know.
Also how you save your changes

Ok i have seen in some youtube videos that instead of deleting you can just add #in front of the gs.apple numbers. Mine already has # in front of them. So do I have something else going on??
