Is there a way to get ringtones on a 1.1.1 phone? Please tell me the easiest way.

And is there a free program somewhere where I can get a 30 second clip from a song to use as a ringtone?

Im on Windows by the way.

Is it free? How does it compare with SendSong?

I just started using audacity myself. How do you then make iPhone recognize the clips you create as ringtones? I have just been using SendSong, but SendSong lists ALL my music in no particular order and it's virtually impossible to find my clip in over 1000 songs. SendSong also terminates unexpectedly after having scrolled many times. I think it runs out of memory.

This is a sweet little trick...I'm gonna go try it out right now!

Update: And it works just as advertised! Thanks.

    Trying that, too, tonight. Thanks!

UPDATE: My problem is SendSong terminates as I scroll down. So I can't even see the song I added. I wish there was a way to scroll quickly to the end or at least have an option to sort.

Maybe it's time to buy RingtoneMaker but I'm cheap...(clears throat) I mean poor.

That used to happen to me in an earlier version of the program and, man, was it frustrating.

My workaround at the time was to slow down my scrolling speed...tough to do when you're trying to get to the end, I know. But it was effective much of the time. Absent any more cerebral fixes, give it a shot!

I tried many ways to get custom ringtones on my 1.1.1 and iPhoneringtonemaker is by far the easiest. I just bought it and had ringtones on my phone literally in less than 2 minutes. I know it's not free, but $14.95 is cheap, especially if you consider all the time you messed with other options. At least, that was my thought. Anyways, I think people who take the time to make these programs deserve an appropriate kickback for their troubles. I appreciate all the work the programmers do, both free and paid. I believe for the $ you also get lifetime upgrades.

iPhone Ringtone Maker only works for the older firmware versions. If you've upgraded it is a no go.

No, they have a version out for 1.1.1. But it is an alpha and it only works about 75% of the time so that may be why they don't have a download for it on their site but it works well enough for me.

iToner's beta is looking more and more worth-the-$$$. SendSong still rocks, but I'd like a slightly easier workflow.

I think iToner is Mac though. I have a Vista Laptop. iphoneringtonemakers worked fine you just had to send a few a couple times to get them working
