After renaming it, if it doesnt change, then reboot and it should work.
Im stuck too in the boot logo. So your saying once we ssh and change applications to applications2 and reboot it should go back to the lockscreen?

I have over 2.5 gigs of apps, almost 250 of them, on my iPod touch 1st gen 8gb but it only takes about 3 min to boot up from being completely off. All you have to do is use folders wisely and you should have no problem.

Well the thing is, if you use the categories folders, when your ipod is booting and it maps the folders, all it sees is an empty app. When you open that folder, it's kind of mapping it's own mini internal springboard. That's what it's doing when it's "Loading". So if you have 50 apps in a categories folder, the springboard during boot up counts that as one very tiny app, because not 'made yet' if you will.

Thanx i will try this and see if it works. The watchdog bundle you mentioned does your ipod have to be jail broke or this a standard file in the ipod

you need wifi for this to work i'm assuming

The watchdog.bundle is on it stock firmware and jailbroken. If you are SSH'ing, then yes you need wifi. But if you are on Windows, you can use iPhoneBrowser, and OS X, DiskAid. Both of those applications go through the USB connection, so no wifi needed.

It worked but still slow. I had too many apps on there and it was slowing it down. I took a bunch off and it worked like a champ. Thanks for the help. I do appreciate it.

Mine doesnt get read in the computer
There is a file called watchdogbundle on your iPod/iPhone. Everytime you start up your iPod/iPhone, springboard has to generate the application map. If you have tons and tons of apps or some very large apps, then this will take a while. Unfortunately, the watchdogbundle file monitors this mapping, and when it takes more than two minutes, it automatically shuts off springboard and trys to remap. To prevent your iPod/iPhone from being stuck at the boot logo, follow these steps:

    1. Turn off your iPod/iPhone
    2. Connect it to your computer
    3. Wait for the noise(dingdong) to register that the computer acknowledges it.
    4. SSH into your iPod/iPhone with WinSCP or iphonebrowser
    5. Go to /private/var/mobile/ and rename Applications to Application2
    6. Your iPod/iPhone should show the springboard in 5-10 seconds
    7. Then, rename Applications2 to Applications again
    8. Then turn off your iPod/iPhone (you may have to force it)
    9. Then turn it back on.

    And your done!

The reason for the renaming of the folder is because the springboard generates the application map from the Applications folder. When you take that folder away, it doesnt have to generate any apps on the map, so it boots up immediately. After you have done this, some of your apps may start randomly appearing on your springboard. This is fine. Just do one or two MANUAL syncs with iTunes, and it should install all of your apps at one time.

I know there are different ways getting past your boot screen, but I find this to be the easiest.

Hope I helped! Please thank accordingly!
My Itouch is still not read in my computer
Wow. Thats ALOT. Install categories. I have like 16 appstore apps on my springboard, and about 8 jailbroken apps. I use a categories folder for my favorite Appstore games, and i have about 16 in there. It takes about 3 minutes to boot.
I have an i touch and my computer is not getting my itouch and i brought it from my friend so i dont know nothing of this hacking

But how is she gonna restore it if it doesnt read her i touch

So it is frozen on your boot logo AND your computer will not recognize it? If so, you must put it into DFU mode and restore it.

Well if your home button is messed up, then thats a major hardware issue. You could try a normal restore without DFU and see what happens. But you definitely have to take it into apple to get it fixed.

That's why you have to restore. They can't tell it was *jailbroken* (not hacked) if you restored it.
