I'm thinking of getting my mom an iPad. She is not computer literate at all and I would need to access her iPad over the Internet so I can help her. I know that I can access my iPhone over my wireless from my PC.

Does Veency also work on the iPad?

Can I access an iPad with Veency over the internet, or does it have to be on the same wireless LAN?

Sorry as far as I can tell it can only be used if the devices are on the same network. I have the same issue myself and I am having trouble tracking down exactly why this is even an issue. I haven't found a whole lot of information on the subject anywhere. Perhaps you can send Jay Freeman an e-mail if anyone would know how to do it then it would probably be him

You can access it over the internet. I did this a while back with one of my old computers and I'm sure it'll work with an iPad. I'm not sure if I can remember how I did it though...

Get a free DNS name (I signed up for one from DynDNS)

Set up a static IP address on the iPad on whatever network it's on.

Forward port 5900 for that IP address on the network.

Then you'll access the iPad using whatever hostname you made on DynDNS.

I can't remember any of the intermediate steps or if I'm missing anything sorry but that's the basic outline of it.
