Ok, so i followed the guide on this website:

How to: Boot into jailbroken state after Custom IPSW restore (for bundles by 0xjohnny) 0xjohnnyiphone

i perfectly put the custom firmware on my iPad and it booted up. Where i am stuck is where it asks me to to get the kernel and iBSS files from the custom firmware and put them along with the tethereboot file in a folder on the desktop called tetheredboot. I put the files in that folder and renamed the iBSS file to just iBSS, and the kernal to just kernal. and i followed where i have to get into terminal and type the commands. where i get stuck is when it asks me to type

    ./tetheredboot iBSS kernel

When i type that this is the error message i get!

sh: ./tetheredboot: No such file or directory

Below is my entire terminal history:

Last login: Tue Nov 23 02:24:50 on ttys000
    Rocky-Dubbs-MacBook-Pro:~ rockydubb$ sudo sh
    Password:
    sh-3.2# cd ~/Desktop/tetheredboot
    sh-3.2# ./tetheredboot iBSS kernel
sh: ./tetheredboot: No such file or directory
    sh-3.2#

    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOu don't need to follow the guide with the custom bundles anymore... that was for the unofficial 4.2.1 GM firmware jailbreak.

You are probably going to have to restore once a untethered jailbreak comes out and then run the new one.

Hello all! I'm trying to jailbreak my iPad in Windows 7; tried to run redsnow in admin mode and closed down iTuneshelper without any success; redsnow stops when it's installing the ramdisk; any suggestions?

If not, would somebody pm me a link to a custom 4.2.1 download so that I can have a jailbroken iPad? I cannot use the modified PwnageTool, as I don't have a Mac.

I also tried to downgrade to 3.2.2 and use jailbreakme.com, but it wouldn't work for some reason. I got a message saying that my software was too recent or something to that extent.

I would appreciate any assistance! Thanks!

Can I do that in Windows 7 Home Premium? I believe that I need Professional or Ultimate. Microsoft is a pain!

You can do it in home premium, just right click on redns0w and click troubleshoot compatibility I believe.

    Wrong.
When a new unteathered jailbreak comes out just jailbreak with that.
If it breaks then do a restore but if it works you save all that time dont ya.

I'm sorry but where exactly are you getting information that what I said is wrong. It is never recommended to use a jailbreak over a jailbreak unless it is the same one and is intended for that purpose. For example redsn0w. So unless the dev team comes up with a way to rerun a newer redsn0w over the top of a currently jailbroken iphone done with redsn0w it is safe to assume it will be a new method and that the device will have to be restored and jailbroken again with the new method. Even if they do come up with a way to convert a tethered jailbreak to a untethered jailbreak without restoring it will probably be much safer to backup your stuff and do a restore first before doing the untethered jailbreak.
