The idea came from having simply too much info and only a small display on the lockscreen.
So squeezing lots in makes not only the font too small, but the wallpaper of the lockscreen almost invisible.
So, I thought about another way to have lots of info available without having to clutter the lockscreen.
Touch events are nice, but how easy is it to touch the "wrong" place, so I was looking at swipe gestures and set the threshold to 200px, so an "accidental" slip on the lockscreen does not trigger anything.
So, here is what I have come up so far.
Swiping with one finger to the right cancels any current display and just shows the "untouched" lockscreen, I needed that as not all displays have a time limit (only time & day and datum).
Swiping with one finger up displays the time for 5 seconds.
Swiping with one finger down displays the day and datum for 5 seconds.
Swiping with one finger to the left displays the weather and forecast for your current location, GPS based (myLocation.txt) with location name from Google - Yahoo location names really suck!)
Swiping with 2 fingers up displays the 4 latest tweets from "your choice" users.
Swiping down with 2 fingers displays the 3 latest news from "your choice" RSS-new feeder.
Swiping with 2 fingers to the left displays Google Maps with your current location marked in the center of the Satellite view. Google Maps is fully interactive, you can switch to Map view, zoom, move or use Streetview.
So lots of available info without cramping the lockscreen, only a swipe away.

Rasp, you genius! You've done it again.

Is there much lag switching between pages?

I use my son's ipod 4G for testing and that works nice and smooth as you can see in the video. No lag in loading any, but that all depends on the connection speed, which might slow the loading down.

Google Maps has 3D display for some cities as well now, as you can see in the screenshot, you also can rotate this by 90 degrees when touching the arrow in the bottom left corner, also see the video where I have done that.

After seeing this you can now try it yourself.
I have added a fully working beta version (Swipe-beta) to the MMUS repo (apt.mmus.us).
Beta version because there are a few little thing I might want to change.
I like to thank and give credits to
Todd Matthews & Steve Purcell from seaofclouds for their tweet plugin.
Engin Kizil for the RSS News Feed plugin.
Skinkers Lab for the touch swipe plugin.
Buuf Theme creators for the idea to use a GUI to configure the theme.
Apart from being able to use finger swipes to display different infos you also can use a GUI (Graphical User Interface) to configure the theme setup, NO file editing or code change needed!
After installing the theme through Cydia, you will see a new icon on the Springboard, called "Swipe Setup" (you might have to respring to see it)

Touch that icon and a window will open that looks like this

Now you enter the Twitter user name you want to follow (just one name!) as only the latest 4 tweets will be displayed!
You can choose a RSS News Feed from a selection (this I might change later!)
You can pick your language (English, German, Italian) and you can enable/disable 24 hour clock (bit tricky to get that little box ticked/unticked).
OK, after you have done everything touch the "Save" button and 2 "Alert" messages will pop up, simply touch "OK" each time, they will confirm that your selection has been saved.
Press the Home button to close the "Swipe Setup" window, lock the Home screen and enjoy Swipe Lockscreen with your setup.

Just crashed my 3gs on 5.1.1
    Respringing contiunosly, never opens...

Ok I fixed it by entering DFU Mode
Now it shows the lockscreen tree image but nothing happens swiping anywhere...

I used my son's iPod4 on 5.1.1 to test this and it worked fine.
Do you use LockInfo, as this could cause trouble, just a guess, but LockInfo always seems to stir trouble with Winterboard when it comes to touch/slide?

Bug1: There are "undefined" weather conditions, which is caused by me using text conditions rather then code numbers, this has been changed now (not in beta version). Text conditions had been fine for years, but now Yahoo changed the text for quite a few codes.

    Dont use Lockinfo
Is there anything to do with @2x s in the theme?
    2012-12-27 02:01 PM
  16. rasputin007's Avatar
I have included both images, the @2x for retina and the ones without @2x for SD display,
    the LockBackground.html has this line
    Code:
    <meta name="viewport" content="initial-scale=0.5, minimum-scale=0.5, maximum-scale=1.0, width=device-width">
which should scale it down for SD display -can't test as I do not have a jailbroken SD iPhone/iPod.

    EDIT:
I dug out an old water damaged iPod3 on 5.1.1 which has SD display and it works on that as well, no resprings at all. OK, can't get weather, news, tweeter etc as the commsboard is fried (no WiFi, no bluetooth, no sFTP), but I can install through iSpirit and that worked fine, also the "Swipe Setup" icon/window works, and saves the setup.
You must have a tweak/app that interferes with LS on Winterboard.

I really dont understand what causes it,
I use all UniAW lockscreeen themes flawlessly every time
Something wrong with swiping on my lockscreen.
So I'll wait for a non swiping map theme from you in the future...
Thanks for your help and for this amazing theme

I am sad to hear this, but really do not have any clue to where the problem lies.
It would help to hear any feedback form other users that use this theme on a SD iPhone/iPod on 5.1.1, if there are any.
So far I only got the feedback from you and Happy363.
