    Hi all

recently my on/off button (the one on the top right) has started to become difficult to use, before a quick press used to put the phone into sleep but now i either have to press it a few times or really hard to get it to work. Anyone else had this problem? should i take the phone back to the shop and see about getting it fixed or a replacement.

    thanks for any advice

I have the same problem, cpjr commented my thread saying that if I open it it would probably be something loose.
I purchased an iPod opening kit so I won't hurt anything, still waiting on that. Just google iPod opening kit if you're interested.. Hope this helps.

The button has a "NUB" on the center that pushes a pressure fit switch. When it gets worn it stops pushing the contacts together, you must replace the headphone flex cable - there is NO WAY to make the nub contact the switch, it must hit it dead on and precise which it cannot do worn.

Would a knife do just the same? Haha whatever I waste money on everything unbelievably unnecessary.

    ^remind me.....3g??

If its a 3g all you need is a small flat/phillips screwdrivers and a small suction cup. Thats it.

On a 2g also a metal spudger works best, or razor.

Those "ipod openers" are plastic and either bend or break....worthless.

2G, and I'll probably try a razor when I finally get around to it.

Also just wanted to point out that this thread is creeping me out..
woody565, people call me woody, my name is danny, and my sleep button is also broken... Hmm.
