I have been researching how to replace the cracked glass (one small crack across the corner, not shattered) on my otherwise perfectly working iphone 3g. I have seen the demos on youtube and had decided on the suction pad method, and the hairdryer to remove the glass. So my next step was ebay to buy the glass. The only problem is that most of the ads say 'glass only, no digitiser' and I'm not sure if I need just the glass or the digitiser and glass. My lcd and touch screen are working perfectly. Is the glass a different thing from the digitiser? Thanks.

Does the touch screen still work? If so then the digitizer works.

Hi, yes it works fine but on all the youtube vids there is only the lcd and the glass, which I assume incorporates the digitiser? How do you seperate them? Or is that a totally stupid question?

Touch panel (Glass screen) and the digitizer are one piece. The LCD Display is another seperate piece.

Yeah you have to get the glass/digitizer combo. The digitizer is glued to the back of the glass and is about as tough as a saltine cracker, trying to remove it will break it.

You can get the combo for less than $30 on ebay. You will also need the adhesive meant for the part, which is like $6.

^ Listen to this guy and One1 above all else on hardware. For everything else though just ignore whatever they say.
