So...while doing a full LCD/digitizer replacement tonight, I totally busted up the seat for cable 3; I mean the white part is broken off as is the little black bar the flips up a bit (Yay!).

I'm wondering if that seat is a two sided connector. Using adhesive tape as an experiment did not work...phone receives power but no image on the screen. Cables 1 and 2 seat properly; can a screwed up Cable 3 cause the screen not to show an image at all? I understand that Cable 3 controls the proximity sensor and something else...

How would I fix that part? Screwed beyond repair??

Yeah you pretty much toasted it. That part is extremely difficult to swap due to it being soldered to the board, and when manufactured they actually use heat from the underside to do so.....meaning they flow the board...which you cant do once the board is put together.

Ahh...so she's dead then. Well, that being said I now have a brand new LCD screen with the new digitizer already attached if anybody needs one. Plug and play! ; )

The thing is, you don't have a "new" LCD. You can take the number 3 connector off and flush it down the toilet, the LCD should still work, so...

Doesn't krazy do the #3 connector repair anymore?

@ Effenpig!: That's what I was wondering. I wasn't sure if the screen should still work without cable 3 attached. I suppose I may just have bad replacement parts...

Yeah, like I said, the LCD should work regardless of cable#3, so you likely have a bad LCD.

Usually krazy chimes in by now and offers his services, not sure where he's at

Just had a very similar situation, the piece to the side snapped off, would this affect performance in any way?

If you are very carefull you may be able to reinsert the cable, but it's likely when you open the little black clasp it will fall off.

You'll just have to try it

Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah, the LCD must've died after reading on this thread that all the #3 does is proximity and light. Just picked up a new LCD, gonna have to wait to pop it in.

I noticed the clasp on the connector was in the locked position, you /did/ flip it up before you pulled out the #3 cable, right?
