I found a whole bunch of packages on my phone, not sure what they do or how they got there (bf has access to my phone) I am now curious as to what exactly is each one for and what they do (I dont tend to mess around with the cydia)

    here's the list:

    APR (/usr/lib)
    APT 0.7 (apt.key)
    APT 0.7 strict (lib)
    base structure
    bourne again shell
    bzip2
    core utilities
    core utilities (bln)
    darwin cc tools
    darwin tools
    diff utilities
    diskdev-cmds
    FAAC
    ffmpeg
    find utilities
    gawk
    GNU privacy guard
    grep
    gzip
    libhide
    libxml2 library
    LZMA utils
    mobile substrate
    network cmds
    new curses
    open ssl
    PAM (apple)
    PAM modules
    pcre
    pincrosa
    readline
    SED
    SQlite3.xlibrary
    system-cmds
    tape archive
    vikid tools
    unzip
    vuid generator
    zip
    zodttd source

thanks so much for your help

(do let me know if I am posting in the wrong forum...)

Those are system utilities. A lot of the ones you listed are already on the phone before you even install anything from cydia. The others came from installing other packages that depend on them.
