How good are all these aftermarket parts holding up quality wise? I really want the red and black (or possibly gold) that gan posted on another thread.

I would say you get what you pay for.... And make sure its done by a professional!
The first Black Frame swap I had done (by obviously someone who didn't know what they were doing) was a BAD experience.... The phone lost all kinds of signal, hardly could make a call or anything! Not Cool. Same with the very first batch of transparent faceplates, always had an issue with the proximity sensor. But all of the phones I have now have extensive customizes and they are work perfect... I would strongly suggest iKustomize, or iFixDirect, or someone with experience.
Good Luck, it also looks like a few guys on here are Experienced as well...

Lets see some pics.... I've got just what you need to match up with that, check this out! I bought this Frame to go with this set but I haven't built it yet. Sounds like this Frame would look Sweeeeet with your set?

I agree, if the color doesn't match exactly then I would go Black. Black good really good. I've had the dull black frames, but just bought a gloss black one. I have used it yet but am looking forward to seeing it on.

The Frame swap is the hardest thing you will do.... Since you've never done it- at least a 5! Honestly you need lots of time and patience but obviously it can be done :-)
