I bought an iPhone 4 today and it has weird problems. The screen is always black. Completely black with no reaction to anything I do. I pressed the POWER and HOME button for 10 seconds to try to hard reset it, but nothing happens. When I set it in DFU mode, iTunes recognizes it, ONLY when its in DFU mode.

I then set it to DFU mode and restored, (Had difficult there too, error 1600 and error 3194 kept poppping up but I eventually got it). After I restored, I heard the windows noise, telling me that a USB has been disconnected from my computer. The screen is STILL black. Whats wrong with this phone? Is something inside broken?

Also some side information, when I get it out of DFU mode, I dont feel the vibration noise when I switch the mute button or receive phone calls. But The top right of the phone tends to get hot when its, "on". (Still black screen and unresponsive)

    What is wrong?! Thanks!

How were you restoring it (using tiny umbrella at all?) and what firmware are you trying to restore to?

I tried tiny umbrella with iTunes, but I got an 1600 error. I then manualyl changed the host file to attact to sakura's server, same error. Then I turned Tinyumbrella off and got 3194. And I tried this with 4.0, 4.1, and 4.3.5 (just clicked restore and iTunes downloaded the firmware for 4.3.5)

And when its "On" (still black screen) the top right of the phone really heats up..!

AND when I restored, the screen was black the whole time

Ok, open tiny umbrella, click advanced and deselect the box that says "set hosts to cydia on exit". Then close tiny umbrella and try restoring to 4.3.5 again.

Ok, I'm trying it now, but i'm pretty sure its a hardware issue.
Do you have any clue what I'm suppose to replace?

Apparently its restoring now, but the screen is still black, I'll see if it actually connects to iTunes outside of DFU mode.

Aww, lol ok ! Hopefully a clean restore helps, thanks a lot!

HEYY! It turns on! But the screen is weird..! I can actually hear sms coming in and vibration switch works now. But the screen's LCD is broken. When it should be unlocked, the LCD will have this really low, dark blue color. When you lock it, its the normal black screen. But you can tell theres a difference..! Is this still the LCDs fault?

Aww, before when I plugged it in iTunes, it connected after a restore. Now its back to the way it was
I'm pretty sure the LCD is broken too but whats making it not able to boot up most of the time and not being able to connect to iTunes unless in DFU mode?

You bought it today, and its been essentially DEAD the whole time?
Sounds like a bum deal. Find whoever sold it to you, and get your moneee back.

(or get them to give you a new phone, and DEMONSTRATE that it works).

I bought it from a friend lol. I fixed LCD's and replaced motherboards with my iPhone 3G. The iPhone 4 couldnt be that different. I bought it knowing it was broken hoping to replace whatever needed to be replaced. This problem is just weird.. I have no clue what I'm suppose to replace.
