    Hi guys i just bought a 3gs that had software issues, it used to be mine and i jailbroke it, well i got it for $20 but the problem started in the morning when my friend unplug the phone from the charger it had a spinning circle and the screen was black, thats all it does, it doest go to dfu or recovery and yes the buttons work, when i connect it to itunes it detects it but says that it has a password and cant restore but the screen just shown the spinning circle please help!

    Let it die and then plug it back in. A reset of sorts. Let us know of that fixes the issue. Unfortunately you'll have to wait for it to die now.

    I would say try dfu again first then try to use recboot.

    Dfu should definitely work if iTunes detects that it's plugged in and shows the spinning wheel. Like I said earlier, use recboot or tiny umbrella to put the phone immediately into recovery mode to restore.

    Gonna have to agree with the doc on this one. If the buttons are working and iTunes detects the phone then you should be able to put it into DFU mode.
