Ah an iPad never knew that just do a fresh restore you will have to download them all again. Be best to wipe it clean and set up as new so ya dont bring anything over with the restore.
it turns out that you can't delete all settings and data on jailbroken device, so you can't do a fresh (set up as new device).
but how will i be able to upgrade my jailbroken 5.1.1 to ios 7?

A friend just got an iPhone 4 currently on 6.1.3

I'm pretty sure the SHSH blobs have all been saved for previous firmware version, but I know those aren't as helpful to have as they once were.

What are his options to jailbreak his iPhone 4 on 6.1.3?

    Thanks!

Thanks. Which jailbreak tool/method should he use?

(The jailbreak tool on Modmyi shows no option to jailbreak an iPhone 4 on 6.1.3)

6.1.4 is just for iPhone 5. iPhone 4 has a tethered jailbreak using redsnow (or snowbreeze as 2k1 pointed out). You can downgrade a iPhone 4 but only if you have the shsh for the firmware you want to go to. Use ifaith to downgrade if you do.

    But I don't have an iPhone 4. I have a 5.

Thank you Kyle. I've tried downgrading my iPhone 4 fw ver. 6.1.3 to 6.1 but I keep running into an error (The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred [3194]). I'm trying to jailbreak my phone but so far there is no tethered/untethered jailbreak avail. for my fw ver. Do you know of a workaround?

There is a tethered jailbreak for iPhone 4 on 6.1.3 using redsnow. You can't downgrade unless you have shsh for the firmware you want to downgrade to.
