Is there a way to just D/L the updated carrier update? I now have 5.5, however, with Apple's 3.1.2 out, there is now 5.6 as carrier version.

When iTunes tells you there is an iPhone software update, don't install it (click cancel or don't install), then it should tell you there is a carrier update. You can do that. That's how it happend to me.

So let iTunes ask me if I wish to update to 3.1.3? I then should cancel and then be asked if I wish to update the carrier software? I think I did all of that and I was never asked about updating my carrier version. I will give it another try.

No. What I did was open iTunes with iPhone connected then went into help menu and did a check for updates. I did not hit the update button of fear of updating my iPhone to 3.1.2. Is there another way of updating my carrier software?

Either do it the way boozie said to or don't do it.
