First of all this applies to all mobile phones

there two (2) kinds of mobile phones the CDMA and GSM

CDMA does not use Sim cards mostly by Verizon, Sprint etc

GSM uses Sim card like Att and T-Mobile

GSM can be unlocked just purchasing an unlock code from any online site selling Unlock Codes or pin

so if your Iphone is GSM, you can just go online and purchase a code and voila! you can use your favorite Iphone again.

    so the answer is YES!

you can use Iphone with bad ESN but you have to unlock it first.

Not completely. If you take the phone outside of the US, then I agree. But if you keep it here then locked or unlocked, you need to have the ESN cleaned prior to being able to use it again.

It can be flashed and used by other supporting carriers easily. The other best options is that it can be used heavily for authentic parts. Remember, the repairing industry is huge right now and it's only getting bigger. Quality parts or I should say OEM parts are hard to come across. Buying those parts are way more expensive than buying generic ones but these parts still have a great market share. I am willing to pay premium for oem parts, even though to a technician it may not justify the reasoning but there is a market for everything.
