I decided to take a wet fresh towel lightly damped on the smart cover and it screwed it up. There is a yellow line going up across the whole section in the smart cover. Can I take this to Apple for them to replace? This is unacceptable to me. I read online that the material is impossible to clean. I don't touch my iPad with food on my hands and have never spilled anything on it. The paper towel was a brown paper towel similar to the ones you find in bathrooms.

The pictures are attached. The pictures don't do it any justice and it looks more like the 3rd picture if you were looking at it in person.

I havent had much issues with the black leather one. You can try taking it into Apple. They might hook it up. Good luck bro!

black leather FTW. got my mother an ipad with white leather cover for mothers day and she loves it too.

If I was going to clean my cover I would probably use something to clean it off of germs and what have you and a bit of leather cleaner on a cloth, followed by some leather conditioner for good measure. I don't think I will have any need for that for quite some time however.

Apple is very accommodating, and though they may not replace your newly decorated smart cover, a simple phone call may be exceptionally helpful.

If you make a fuss, maybe they will offer a swap? Can't hurt; Apple has an image to maintain!
