It's a big week for the iPad and international Apple fans who have been waiting to get their hands on the company's revolutionary tablet since the product was officially unveiled in late January.

Mark your calendars for this Friday, July 23rd - that is, if you live in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand or Singapore. This weekend, Apple will begin selling the iPad (both 3G and Wifi models) in your neck of the woods. With the introduction of the iPad into these new markets, the device will now be available in a grand total of 19 countries.

Unlike the iPhone 4, the iPad hasn't been plagued by consumer, product, or public relations nightmares. The only glitch the iPad has largely encountered is the significant supply shortages immediately born of the strong initial public demand, a situation that is yet to be fully resolved as more people - and countries - are expressing a strong appetite for the product. At present, the iPad is available in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and, of course, the US.

As similarly reported by Reuters this morning, it isn't clear if this Friday's roll out represents the full promise by Apple to make the iPad available to "many more countries" before the end of the year, or if another round of international debuts for 2010 are still forthcoming. It is estimated, however, that Apple sold better than three million iPads during the last quarter alone. Cupertino will release quarterly earnings on Tuesday.

@gambri...Congratulations on your inspiring post, and on finally summoning up the courage to post after three years of being a member

On another note, why didn't Apple move the positions of the antennae on the i4 higher up away from where it would easily be bridged, so it'd have had little or no launch glitches like the iPad?

For the average reader, I am sure a mere three hours matters not. MMI never set out to be the first to report things, as far as I know.
