ok it works, but the first time i started a movie (.avi 640x352) it just crashed and went back to homescreen, started the app again and then it worked.

but no movie-delete button in the app itself, you have to delete them in itunes from the documents tab in your ipad apps

Correct me if I'm wrong but since when did Apple's mobile devices support other types of media (video wise) besides MP4/quicktime? Anytime I have tried putting another type of vid on my iPhone or iPod I get an error message that it's not compatible. If this is still the case what is the need for this on an iPad?

    It says for iPad
Are we iPhone users going to have it?
If you read the entire post it says they are hoping to release an iPhone/iPod version later this year.

Do you know what VLC is?

It allows playback of nearly ALL formatted video files. That is why this app is such a huge approval.

After playing with it most the evening I can say it chokes on .avi files over 600MB big, the audio/video don't stay in sync when scrubbing forward and backwards and .mkv support is poor.

This is a stab in the dark, but VLC has many more codecs built in so it can support more formats. Apple alone only supports mp4/QT.

It doesn't sound like this version of VLC is any better than the Zodttd version or any other players that have come out.

some people don't get that you DO NOT have to convert to mp4. Just drag and drop your avi and it plays it!
    So stop complaining

Some people are also just assuming that it just works. So far every video I've put on it just causes it to crash out to the home screen. Frankly I'm surprised this made it through the approval process - at the very least it should have been tested with several common formats first.

Adding files is easy, connect your iPad up to itunes, choose it from the sidebar, click the Apps tab, and scroll down to the File Sharing section. From there you can choose VLC and add files through drag-and-drop or the "Add..." button. iTunes will start copying the files over to VLC . You can use them as soon as it finishes
