Add nfc tech to iPhones and things get even easier than this. To top it off, there is almost no added investment by retailers.

You are also unwilling to move forward either. Receipts are paper. Move on and quit being paranoid about getting spammed. Paper receipts are dying right along with paper money and checks.
money is made from cloth not paper if u wash a dollar it doesnt fall apart

Well, this accomplishes a few things:
    • Using credit cards will be encouraged more, as you will have a shorter wait, since they can't very well carry around change with them too easily.
    • It will mean the virtual death of lines when checking out (at least with a credit card), since the person you are already talking to can also ring up your purchases at the same time.
    • This will also encourage people to bring reusable bags more, since again, carrying around a ton of bags will not be convienent
[*}Square's processing fees are usually much lower than anyone else, so it's makes it cheaper for the merchant as well.

All in all, I think this can be a good thing, if done correctly.

Umm just one question n then I will be convinced.

How would you return your items purchased for an exchange or a refund without a receipt?
You do get a receipt...it is emailed to you at an account of your choosing. If you want to return something, simply print out the receipt and follow the normal routine.

I can accept cash with my iphone.

I use Minibooks which also runs on my PC as Freshbooks.
I generate the invoice right on my iphone and can send the invoice as paid or unpaid
to the customer's email. Also, there is a secured email link to the invoice for the customer.
They can dispute the invoice too.

I also have PayPal on my iphone to send or receive money to my bank account.

And I have Square for credit cards.
