With the production of Apple's iPhone 5S now imminent, it appears that Apple will look to reduce putting extraneous pressure on its manufacturing and supply chain by waiting until after the iPhone 5S has launched to begin mass producing the next-generation iPad.

Although the iPad 5 was initially expected in spring, it now looks like production on the refreshed Apple tablet won't commence until July or August. The iPhone 5S is expected sometime in June or July.

Digitimes reported Tuesday morning that sources with Taiwan-based supply chain makers indicate that yield rates for key components, especially touch panels, "will be a major concern for smooth production."

The sources pointed out that the new iPad will be thinner and lighter than the fourth-generation one and will adopt a slim bezel design, similar to that of the iPad mini.
Today's surprisingly terse report from Digitimes adds that the refreshed Pad 5's display will likely be supplied by LG Display and Sharp. Meanwhile, touch panel assembly will be conducted by TPK.
