On Thursday, The Weather Channel, LLC updated its popular iPad iOS application with a much needed update bringing the application up to version 4.0.0.

The update finally gives the application the aesthetics to look like it belongs on iOS 7. The team behind the application worked hard on the details surrounding blurs, transparency, flatness, and other elements that make the application fit nicely with iOS 7.

For an added touch, the application will also show a nice background image to match the weather conditions outside, similarly to how the Yahoo! Weather application does.

The update does come a little late, though. iOS 8 is already in beta 2 and will be out to the public this Fall. Luckily, iOS 8 doesn't look much different from iOS 7, and this update will look aesthetically matched for iOS 8 as well. iOS 8 will also drop support for Yahoo! in terms of its built-in weather services in place of The Weather Channel, as we showed you at the time of the iOS 8 beta 1 release.

It's worth noting that this update is only for the iPad version of the application. The iPhone and iPod touch version of the application was already redesigned for iOS 7 in the past. Existing users of the iPad version of The Weather Channel's application will find the update under the Updates tab in the App Store application. Alternatively, you can download The Weather Channel for iPad for free from this App Store link.
